The academic student counselling informs both prospective students and students about the structure and course of studies and about its career prospects. It advises prospective students on the choice of degree program and helps students deal with problems during their studies. In addition, it also provides information on the approval of academic achievements and assessment in higher semesters, which follows a uniform procedure for all degree programs.

The student counselling service sees itself as a link between the examination office and the students. In case of problems with the timetable, the course catalog (eKVV) or studying in general, it is the first point of contact. It also offers help in filling out applications for the Examination Office of the Faculty of Technology.

Furthermore, the student advisory service also provides information on questions regarding the university as well as its institutions and cooperations.

The ZSB is the central counselling center of Bielefeld University for all questions concerning studies. It is an institution independent of the faculties and examination offices and thus advises on the entire range of courses offered by the university and on general questions before and during studies.
